Effective October 2019, the name of our center has changed from "Research Center for Environmentally Friendly Materials Engineering" to “The Center for Rare Earths Research". The nickname will remain the same: "Muroran Materia".

Overview
After the 1st edition (June 2016, Rusutsu, Hokkaido, Japan), the 2nd edition (October 2017, Kasumigaseki, Tokyo, Japan), the 3rd edition (November 2018, Toya, Hokkaido, Japan), the 4th edition (October 2020, online), the 5th edition (October 2021, online), the 6th edition (November 2022, hybrid), the 7th edition (November 2023, hybrid), the 8th edition (June 2024, hybrid), and the 9th edition (June 2025, hybrid), the 10th edition of Muroran-IT Rare Earth Workshop 2026 (REWS2026) on “Innovative Development for Rare Earths Application” will be held on June 20-21, 2026 for the purpose of discussing the awareness of potential uses of rare earths.
